What is online B2C market research?

Online B2C market research is quantitative consumer research conducted via digital channels among a representative sample of the Belgian population or a segment relevant to the client. It delivers statistically reliable data on the opinions, behaviours, preferences and intentions of your target audience β€” quickly and cost-efficiently.

Day One has an extensive respondent panel in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, and over 25 years of experience in designing questionnaires that produce reliable, unbiased data.

Our speciality: At Day One, methodological quality is always central. Simply asking questions is not enough. We apply specific approaches to questionnaire design that lead to valuable insights and actionable decisions.

Our 8 core forms of consumer research

Concept testing

Test new products, product names, logos, packaging, services or ideas with your target audience before market launch. Which concept performs best and why?

Advertising & communication research

Pre- and post-measurement of campaign effectiveness. Measure retention, comprehension, appeal, brand attribution and call to action.

Brand tracking, image & perception research

How is your brand, product or organisation perceived by consumers? Measure brand awareness, brand preference and brand associations.

Satisfaction research

Net Promoter Score, customer satisfaction index and detailed driver analysis. Discover what drives or inhibits loyalty.

Competitive research

Benchmark your brand or product against competitors on awareness, consideration, usage and perception.

Segmentation research

Divide target audiences into meaningful segments based on behaviour, needs or values.

Customer journey mapping

Map milestones and touchpoints and identify pain points in the purchasing process.

Market potential & feasibility

How large is your market? How many consumers are interested? Measure purchase intent and price acceptance.

What are the outcomes?

  • Statistically reliable data from a representative Belgian panel
  • Segmentation by region, age, gender, income or usage profile
  • Clear charts and tables ready for presentation
  • Concrete recommendations from the researcher
  • Benchmarking possible over time (tracking)

With omnibus research, you share the cost of a large representative consumer study. Ideal when you need reliable figures quickly, without the budget of a full quantitative project.

What is omnibus research?

In an omnibus study, questions from multiple clients are combined into a single large survey among a representative sample of the Belgian population. You pay only for your own questions β€” and share the fieldwork costs with others.

Day One offers omnibus research via snelmarktonderzoek.be β€” our platform for fast, affordable and reliable market research in Belgium. Visit the website for current pricing and scheduling.

B2B Market Research in Belgium β€” insight into professional markets

B2B research requires a different approach from consumer research. Day One has extensive experience in reaching and surveying decision-makers, influencers, procurement managers and professional users across a wide range of sectors.

What makes B2B market research different?

Professional buyers are harder to reach, have more complex decision-making processes and are more protective of their time. Standard consumer panels do not work here. You need a partner who can recruit and survey professional target groups β€” including in niche sectors.

Day One has a proven track record in B2B research across sectors including industry, construction, financial services, healthcare, retail, technology and business services.

Recruiting B2B respondents is often the greatest challenge. Day One has access to professional networks and experience in screening and motivating busy professionals.

Applications of B2B market research

  • Customer satisfaction and loyalty research among business clients
  • Market positioning and competitive analysis in professional markets
  • Needs and segmentation research among businesses
  • Concept and product testing among professional users
  • Price sensitivity research (Van Westendorp, conjoint analysis)
  • Insight into purchasing processes and DMU structures
  • Research among C-level decision-makers

Sectors

Industry & manufacturing Construction & real estate Financial services Healthcare Technology & IT Business services Retail & wholesale Logistics

Our approach to B2B

1

Target audience definition

We jointly define the exact profiles: job titles, sectors, company size, purchasing role and region.

2

Targeted recruitment

Via professional networks, LinkedIn targeting or your own customer database β€” with rigorous screening.

3

Method selection

Telephone interviews, online surveys, focus groups or face-to-face β€” depending on the target audience.

4

Analysis & recommendations

Findings translated into concrete strategic recommendations for your market approach and sales strategy.

Qualitative Research β€” focus groups and in-depth interviews in Belgium

Qualitative research reveals the deeper motivations, beliefs and behaviours of your target audience. Day One conducts focus group discussions and personal in-depth interviews across Belgium.

What is qualitative research?

Qualitative research is about understanding, not counting. Through open conversations, group discussions and projective techniques, we uncover why people do, think or feel something β€” not merely what they do. Day One applies two primary methods, depending on your research question.

Qualitative research is an ideal complement or first step before quantitative research. Qualitative explains the why; quantitative measures how widespread something is.

Focus group discussions

A focus group is a structured group discussion with 6 to 8 participants from your target audience, led by an experienced moderator. The group dynamic brings opinions, attitudes and motivations to the surface that would remain hidden in a one-to-one conversation.

  • Spontaneous reactions to concepts, products or campaigns
  • Insight into the attitudes, language and perceptions of your target audience
  • Powerful quotes that are persuasive internally
  • Ideal for concept testing, packaging research and brand positioning
  • Sessions on location, in a professional test environment or online

Personal in-depth interviews

In an in-depth interview (IDI), an experienced interviewer speaks one-to-one with a respondent. The open conversation structure allows thorough probing and the surfacing of nuances that would be lost in a group setting.

  • Sensitive topics (health, finances, personal decisions)
  • Hard-to-reach professionals or highly specific profiles
  • Defining the customer journey in detail
  • Expert interviews and stakeholder analysis
  • Face-to-face, by telephone or via video conference

How does a qualitative project work?

1

Intake & research question

We refine your research question together and determine the best method: focus groups or in-depth interviews.

2

Respondent recruitment

We recruit participants who closely match your target audience, via our network in Flanders or across Belgium.

3

Discussion or interview guide

A structured yet flexible guide, tailored to your objectives.

4

Execution

Professional moderation or interviewing.

5

Analysis & reporting

Qualitative content analysis with key findings, quotes and concrete recommendations.

Social Research for government, universities and non-profit

Day One has extensive experience in socially and policy-relevant research. We support government institutions, university research groups and non-profit organisations with scientifically grounded social research within general or specific population segments.

What is social research?

Social research examines societal issues, behaviours, attitudes and living conditions of groups within society. It goes beyond commercial market research: it demands heightened methodological and ethical rigour, and a deep knowledge of the social sciences.

Day One has conducted social research for Flemish and federal government departments, cities and municipalities, university research groups and social non-profit organisations. We understand the specific requirements of public-sector clients: transparency, representativeness and scientific grounding.

Typical clients: Flemish government, cities and municipalities, public social welfare centres (OCMW), provinces, universities and universities of applied sciences, social housing associations, federal government departments, European project partners.

Applications of social research

  • Policy evaluation and impact measurement of government measures
  • Citizen surveys and satisfaction research among residents
  • Research into social cohesion, poverty and well-being
  • Liveability research in neighbourhoods, cities or municipalities
  • Research for university master's theses or doctoral projects
  • Participatory research with vulnerable target groups
  • Social impact measurement for non-profit organisations
  • Feasibility research for new policy programmes

Our approach to social research

1

Problem definition & research design

We translate your policy or research question into a scientifically grounded research design, with method selection and sampling strategy.

2

Data collection

Qualitative (interviews, focus groups, participant observation) or quantitative (questionnaire surveys, large samples), or a combination (mixed methods).

3

Analysis

Statistical analysis or qualitative content analysis, depending on the method. Always with attention to context and nuance.

4

Reporting & policy recommendations

A clear report with scientifically sound conclusions and practical policy recommendations that you can implement immediately.

Ethics and privacy

Social research demands particular attention to ethical guidelines and privacy regulations (GDPR). Day One always works in accordance with the applicable deontological codes.

Biofeedback & Bioresonance β€” the future of market research

Day One is a pioneer in Belgium with bioresonance research as a market research method. Measure unconscious reactions to your brand, product or campaign β€” objective, impossible to manipulate and groundbreaking.

✦ Exclusive Day One concept β€” Bioresonance research as a market research method is a new, exclusive concept from Day One. We are the only partner in the BeNeLux to offer this innovative method for commercial and social applications.

What is bioresonance research?

Bioresonance measures physiological signals of the human body in response to external stimuli β€” such as a product, an advertisement, product packaging, a retail environment or an interface.

It analyses the energetic and electromagnetic response of the body to stimuli, across more than 10,000 different aspects. It provides an unprecedented direct picture of what people truly experience β€” independently of what they consciously choose to say.

Why bioresonance for market research?

  • Unconscious reactions that consumers themselves cannot articulate
  • Not influenced by social desirability or rationalisation
  • Objective emotional response to a product, advertisement, packaging, brand or concept
  • Unique combination with classical research methods for a complete picture
  • Scientifically grounded technology, already proven in neuromarketing
  • Answers the questions that qualitative and quantitative research cannot address

Examples of applications

Advertising pre-testing

Measure the physiological and psychological impact of your brand or campaign.

Packaging research

Which packaging triggers the strongest positive unconscious response in your target audience?

Retail & shopper experience

How does the body respond to a retail environment, shelf layout or product presentation?

Work environment

Objective measurement of stress and well-being in workspaces, for better office design.

How does it work in practice?

We work according to the principle of the experiment, in which a pre- and post-measurement is carried out. In between, an exposure takes place. All external stimuli and parameters are kept identical. The changes identified in the second measurement can be attributed to the altered variable β€” namely the product, the campaign, the situation, etc.

1

Research design

We jointly determine which stimuli will be tested and which physiological parameters are most relevant to your research question.

2

Baseline measurement

Respondents are equipped with wearable biofeedback sensors. The test environment is comfortable and non-invasive.

3

Exposure to stimuli

Respondents are exposed to your advertisement, packaging, interface or environment.

4

Follow-up measurement

The same measurement is repeated after exposure.

5

Analysis

The physiological data are analysed and correlated with the stimuli. Patterns of activation, stress, positive response and aversion are identified.

6

Integration with classical research

We optionally combine the biofeedback data with qualitative or quantitative research for a complete and nuanced picture.
